You report to the Accounting Manager and will assist the Accounting Manager in preparing accurate and timely financial reports and ensure appropriate accounting control procedure.You prepare recharging/inter-company activities, cash related activities and support in the implementation of new systems, always in line with Shurgard's policies and values.

Shurgard is a publicly listed self-storage company with presence in France, the Netherlands, The United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany, Belgium and Denmark.The accounting team, responsible for all EU accounting activities, is centralized at the Shurgard European Support Center in Belgium (Groot Bijgaarden).Comprised of four sub-departments including Cash and Trade Receivable, Real Estate Accounting & Reporting, Corporate Accounting, and Cash and Trade Payable, there is currently an exciting vacancy for a fifth accountant within the Cash and Trade Payable team due to internal mobility opportunities.
LET'S TALK ABOUT YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES!
Financial Recording and Reporting:
- Ensure accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses.
- Meet all financial reporting deadlines.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.
- Prepare financial management reports.
- Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
Inter-Company and Tax Compliance:
- Ensure accurate inter-company accounts and recharges.
- Prepare tax returns (VAT, Real Estate Tax, etc.).
- Maintain vendor file maintenance.
- Set invoices up for payment and prepare and process payments.
- Maintain bank records.
- Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures.
Auditing and Control Procedures:
- Participate in the auditing process and any necessary follow-up and improvement.
- Establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures.
- Act as a gatekeeper in respect to the delegation of authority matrix in close collaboration with the legal department.
- Participate in fine-tuning and rollout of various control systems.
