About Hippocampus Logistics
Hippocampus Logistics BV is a fast-growing logistics and warehousing company located in Hoogstraten, Belgium. We provide warehousing, fulfillment, transportation coordination, and customs-related services to international clients across Europe.
To support our continued growth, we are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Customs Affairs Officer to join our team.
Your Responsibilities
As a Customs Affairs Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring full customs compliance and supporting our import and export operations.
Your tasks include:
- Preparing and processing import, export, and transit customs declarations.
- Managing customs documentation and maintaining accurate records.
- Ensuring compliance with Belgian, EU, and international customs regulations.
- Communicating with customs authorities, brokers, freight forwarders, and clients.
- Monitoring customs procedures and advising internal teams on compliance matters.
- Supporting customs audits and inspections.
- Reviewing commodity codes (HS Codes), customs values, and origin documentation.
- Assisting with VAT and customs duty-related matters.
- Identifying opportunities to improve customs processes and operational efficiency.
- Keeping up to date with customs legislation and regulatory changes.
Profiel
Your Profile
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience in customs operations, international trade, or logistics.
- Possesses good knowledge of Belgian and EU customs regulations.
- Has experience with customs declaration systems and customs documentation.
- Is familiar with import/export procedures and Incoterms.
- Works accurately and pays strong attention to detail.
- Can work independently and take responsibility.
- Has strong communication skills.
- Is fluent in English or Dutch.
- Knowledge of Chinese is considered a strong advantage.
- Experience with bonded warehouse procedures is a plus.
- Experience with e-commerce logistics is an advantage.
