• Advise and guide the development team. 
• Promote a culture of technical excellence. 
• Take overall technical responsibility for the software systems within the application team. 
• Ensure software development and implementation align with organisational standards and objectives. 
• Support developers in making sound technical decisions. 

• Spend a significant portion of time on practical development activities. 
• Participate directly in coding. 
• Develop new application functionality. 
• Resolve software defects and technical issues. 
• Remain actively involved in implementation rather than operating only at architectural level. 

• Design scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems. 
• Respect defined architectural standards. 
• Collaborate with the architecture team to complement the overall architecture. 
• Work with the Portfolio Architect to align with strategic architecture. 
• Make appropriate additional design decisions where required. 

• Work with analysts to refine functional and business requirements. 
• Translate requirements into robust technical solutions. 
• Understand customer needs and business objectives. 
• Ensure technical solutions remain aligned with broader organisational goals. 

• Conduct thorough code reviews. 
• Ensure high standards of software quality. 
• Implement and maintain strong quality assurance practices.

• Regularly evaluate software performance. 
• Identify bottlenecks and performance issues.
